A year unwinding like a wave along the shore.

Picture this: six nights inside a centuries-old Omani-style fort, set right on the edge of the Indian Ocean — where thick stone walls keep the heat of the day at bay, and every room carries the story of another time in its handcrafted details. Here, on the threshold between desert and water, timeless architecture meets absolute stillness. Nothing is left to chance — from the first light of morning to the last glow of evening, everything is designed to let you fully let go.
Days begin gently: yoga on a terrace with the ocean as your only horizon, followed by breathwork and meditation that settle the mind before the day has even truly started. Barefoot, you walk the beach each morning, sinking into the warm, turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean — a ritual that grounds the body and clears the mind.
Between sessions, space opens up for creative expression: three art workshops invite you to process the year in colour, shape and texture — with no expectations, just curiosity. A cocoa ceremony brings heart and mind into alignment, a sound healing session lets vibrations echo deep within you, and a sunset dhow sailing trip carries the whole group across the water on a traditional sailboat as the sky turns warm with colour.
You'll be taken care of, culinarily too: full board with breakfast, lunch and dinner, blending Southeast Asian and Mediterranean influences — fresh, fragrant, and prepared with the same care as everything else here. Airport transfer and a village tour through Lamu's narrow, storied streets round out the experience.
Throughout, you'll share the journey with a close, intimate group of around 12 people — small enough to feel connected, spacious enough to hold your own quiet moments too.
This retreat isn't an escape from the year — it's a deliberate invitation to let it close gently. With yoga, art, stillness, and an endless view of the ocean.

Your space to rest.

Nestled along the sand dunes of Shela Beach, The Fort has been hailed as a monument to Omani architectural ingenuity. Built in 2001, the landmark is the epitome of privacy and seclusion. Its unique architecture occupies an unrivaled position overlooking the Indian Ocean on the deserted 14 kilometre beach.

Peaceful and tranquil in it’s setting, surrounded by natural dunes and breezy casuarinas, The Fort is an elegant and unique sanctuary offering privacy combined with personalized hospitality. Extremely private and secure, this oasis is just a ten minute walk along the beach to Shela Village.

Retreat Facilites.

We let the day decide - wherever the wind takes you, the space is yours.

Whether on the rooftop terrace with the Indian Ocean stretching endlessly before you, in the sheltered calm of the inner courtyard, or directly on the beach with your feet in the sand — The Fort offers a variety of settings for our yoga and art sessions.

Every meal - an experience.

Our in-house chef prepares fresh, thoughtfully crafted dishes each day — drawing from the best the island has to offer. The cuisine leans Southeast Asian–Mediterranean, with fresh seafood at its heart.

Lunches and dinners are served as a three-course experience — unhurried, generous, full of flavour. Vegetarian and vegan options are always available.
